Rock Island District Programs and Projects



The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, manages hundreds of diverse projects in order to meet the national and regional needs of navigation, flood risk management, emergency management, ecosystem restoration and regulation, recreation, water supply, land management and national security.

Birdland Park Levee – A contractor removes trees and roots on the hillside below McHenry Park. Material from the hillside will be used to construct part of the new Birdland Levee along the Des Moines River. For more information view the project fact sheet.


Ventura Marsh – A birds-eye view of Ventura Marsh near Clear Lake, Iowa. This is the first Section 206 aquatic restoration project in the Rock Island District. For more information visit the project fact sheet.
