| Guidelines for Saylorville Lake Picnic Areas
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers welcomes you to Saylorville Lake . Our goal is to make your visit a safe and enjoyable experience. A complete list of recreation rules, Title 36 CFR "Rules and Regulations," and other helpful maps and brochures are available from the Visitor Center , Park Rangers, Park Attendants or Hosts. Please contact any member of our staff if you have questions or need assistance. Please help maintain and protect park facilities and natural resources by following these guidelines when picnicking at Saylorville Lake :
Picnic areas are open 6am to 10pm through Labor Day; 6am to sunset the day after Labor Day through Sept. 30; and 7am to sunset in April and October. Park custodians close and lock area gates promptly each evening. For your convenience and their consideration, please leave prior to area closing.
Drive with caution! Many of our roadways are shared with cyclists, in-line skaters and hikers. Please observe posted speed limits and watch out for pedestrians, children, wildlife and pets.
The operation and parking of vehicles off roadways or on sidewalks is prohibited. Be considerate of the environment and facilities by parking only in developed lots. Please take the extra few minutes to carry supplies or catered food from parking areas to picnic shelters. Please observe handicap parking regulations.
Only street legal vehicles allowed. All non-licensed vehicles including mini-motorcycles, motorized scooters, golf carts, etc. are prohibited.
Roasters are allowed only in parking areas. Please become familiar with your reserved shelter and bring an adequate extension cord to operate trailer-mounted roasters from parking areas. All roasters and grills must be equipped with a grease and ash basin. Place all grease, food remains, and litter in area trashcans or dumpster. Do not place hot roasters, grills, skillets or grease pans directly on picnic tables. The possession of fireworks, explosives, firearms, ammunition, bows or other projectile firing devices is prohibited.
Avoid overloaded electrical circuits and tripped breakers by plugging multiple appliances into separate outlets at opposite ends of the picnic shelter. Please do not plug in campers, vessels, or other recreational vehicles.
Yard games such as water balloons and egg toss can be a fun part of summer picnics, but remember, they are not appropriate inside picnic shelters or restrooms. Children (of all ages) should be directed to fill water balloons only from outside water hydrants. After the fun, please pick up all the pieces (litter) these games generate.
Clean up is the responsibility of the shelter and picnic users. Please clean up all spills and dispose of litter. If you have more trash than the garbage cans hold, please use area dumpsters. Leave the area in the condition you would like to find it. Other visitors and Park Staff will appreciate your consideration.
Pets must be confined or on a leash less than 6 feet in length. Pets are not allowed in the restrooms. Please pick up and properly dispose of all pet waste. Do not attach pet leashes, ropes, chains or clotheslines to trees or shrubs.
Thank You for Your Cooperation!
