The M/V Pioneer is on site on the lower end,(14 Jan 2012). They will assist Northbound Tows to keep them off the lower BullNose. They will also assist Southbound Tows during their exit to reduce wheel wash along the lower landwall and to reduce heeling off the lower landwall. There will be several Lock Closures begining 14 Feb 2012. Contractors will be working on the lower BullNose and the lower Miter Gate Apron for scour repairs. Please see Navigation Notice PN 12-02 for more details. There are two recently placed red bouys just below Lock 25. One is at mile 240.8, (the old Winfield Ferry crossing). The next is at mile 240.5, (Winfield Grain Elevator). All these are good bouys. Shoaling exists in the middle of the river and left descending shore below the dam. The channel now favors the right descending shore, (Missouri side). We are only using one tainter valve to drain the chamber, (landwall side), so, drain times are going to be longer. tlr When T/W is below 421.50 towboats with loads should not park below elevator. 201 MEL PRIC 020912 U419.00 +0.30 25 A32 0 PC 2 0 3 9 00:32 1600 L402.70 -0.60 W43 185 L/D 27 020912 U401.90 -0.60 n/a A33 0 PC 4 2 6 11 04:31 1600 L388.60 -1.20 W44 ------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------ 2 MOORING BITS ARE MISSING ON THE AUX.LOCK MIDDLE WALL. ************************************************************ ALL BOATS NEED TO BE USING THEIR BUMPERS WHEN THEY ARE COMMING INTO THE LOCK CHAMBER. Double tripping and use of industry helper boats during ice conditions will be required if proper couplings are not accomplished prior to arrival at the locks. Failure to have the tow configured properly may result in loss of lock turn. Tow configuration to ice couplings shall not be accomplished at the lock or lock approach."
